KOTA KINABALU, Feb 12– The Sabah state government is collaborating with Shopee, the country’s number one e-commerce platform, in providing training and knowledge on e-commerce to youth who are keen on participating in the fields of entrepreneurship as well as on-line business.
Sabah Youth and Sports Minister Phoong Jin Zhe said the partnership can further strengthen the Youth Enterpreneur Aspiration Programme that was introduced by the state government to empower youth involvement in business with each eligible participant to receive a RM2,000 grant.
“The initial business grant of RM2,000 is insufficient. However, the ministry will also assist youth entrepreneurs by providing training and skills (relating to on-line business marketing).
“These efforts (training and skill) would be continued by collaborating with Shopee through Shopee University in helping to equip the youth entrepreneurs with knowledge of online marketing,” he told reporters after the launch of S-Mart, the Shopee online store platform specifically for Sabah, here today.
Meanwhile, Shopee Malaysia head of seller management Zed Li said Shopee will cooperate with renowned brands and retailers as well as third-party logistics partners such as Pos Laju to fulfil the needs of Sabahans.
