KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 (Bernama) — All cooperatives in the country have been given a three-month extension to hold their annual general meeting (AGM) on top of the existing six months after the end of the financial year, the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM) said.

In a statement today, SKM said the extension period was given following orders by the government to suspend or cancel all gatherings, including meetings, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“If the COVID-19 outbreak situation is still critical at the end of the period, cooperatives must apply for an extension period to hold their AGM to the state SKM director for further consideration,” it said.

SKM expressed hope the prevention measures by the government would curb the spread of COVID-19 and protect Malaysians from being infected with the disease.
