PEKAN, Aug 15 — The Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah today reminded all recipients of the state’s awards to protect and honour the awards and titles bestowed upon them.
Tengku Hassanal said the reminder was also applicable to future recipients, he stressed that every award in Allah’s earth comes with duties and responsibilities that must be upheld.”
“Never be conceited and arrogant, instead be humble and down to earth. Contribute your best to the state and my subjects,” he said in his royal address during the presentation of Pahang state awards in conjunction with the 61st birthday of the Sultan of Pahang, held at Istana Abu Bakar, here, today.
During the ceremony, Tengku Hassanal presented awards to 56 recipients including to eight of his siblings. Three of them respectively received the Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) award, which carries the title of Datuk Seri; and five of them were bestowed the Sri Indera Mahkota Pahang (SIMP) award, which carries the title of Datuk Indera.
Tengku Hassanal also prayed that Allah continues to bestow good things on his father, who is now residing in Istana Negara as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, together with Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah who is also the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang.
Referring to His Majesty choice of name, Tengku Hassanal said the name which means “Sultan as the servant of Allah, the guardian of religion chosen by Allah”, it was His Majesty’s intention that the name would always be a doa and blessed by Allah in executing the trust given.
“His attachment to Allah, required him to be fair to all races, religions and people of all walks of life, taking care of the nation’s peace and upholding righteousness.
“His advice and examples shown, symbolises his sincerity and genuine affection in his heart for the people, not only at the state level, but nationwide, which indirectly, is a good example and boosts the nation’s image,” said Tengku Hassanal.
In the royal address, Tengku Hassanal also reminded the people to preserve unity, uphold good values and always maintain the limits and courtesy, even when facing challenges, so that the trust shouldered is carried out based on knowledge and not emotion.
Without such a good attitude, Tengku Hassanal said it could cause the power and trust entrusted to stray from the right path resulting in loss of integrity, rampant corruption, breach of trust, divisions and disputes.
Meanwhile, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail at a pledge of loyalty ceremony, thanked Tengku Hassanal for extending his service together with with ten State Executive Council Members, which ended on May 14 after the dissolution of the 14th State Legislative Assembly.
Wan Rosdy said the extension inspired them to continue carrying out their duties well for the sake of the state’s prosperity and the welfare of the people, through the ‘mesra rakyat, mesra pelabur’ (people and investor-friendly) approach.
He said the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah since his inauguration as Yang di-Pertuan Agong has shown utmost diplomacy to Malaysians, whose noble attitude has long been known by the people of Pahang.
“This includes (His Majesty’s) spontaneous and intuitive attitude, such as helping people involved in road crashes or visiting roadside stalls, endearing him to the people, and this noble attitude has been inherited by Tuanku (Tengku Hassanal),” he said.
