KUALA LUMPUR， Aug 27: Amanjaya in Kedah will be placed under targeted movement control order (TEMCO) beginning tomorrow.
Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the TEMCO would be enforced until further notice.
It will involve 22,360 residents and 265 families, all of whom will be screened by health ministry officials.
“The SOPs will be the same as other areas under TEMCO, where residents are not allowed to leave, while outsiders are not allowed to enter these zones,” he said at a press conference today, adding that roadblocks will be set up to monitor movements.
Ismail said public areas such as places of worship, schools, night markets and farmers’ markets will be closed, while businesses providing essential services such as convenience stores, petrol stations and pharmacies are allowed to operate until 8pm.
Operation hours for restaurants will be 8am to 8pm, opening strictly for takeaways. Daily markets may open from 6am to 2pm, and only clinics and hospitals are permitted to operate 24 hours.
One person from each family is allowed to leave the house to buy essentials, but exceptions can be made for those who cannot drive and require another family member to do so.
Ismail said Malaysia’s borders will continue to be closed and those from Thailand or Indonesia are still not permitted to enter the country.
He said it was not mandatory for premises to record customers’ temperatures, and those issued compounds should contact the authorities to revoke the fine.
Only customers’ phone numbers should be recorded, he said.
Ismail also said there would be no big-scale Merdeka celebrations this year, including the annual parade.
