KOTA KINABALU, Sept 11: Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) agreed today to avoid competing against each in several constituencies in the Sabah election.
BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the parties will unite to face the Sept 26 polls as a team.
He said there are bound to be clashes after the parties announced their candidates yesterday, but “this will be resolved as soon as possible”.
Earlier, Zahid attended a meeting of more than 20 leaders from BN, PN and PBS with the Prime Minister and PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin at a hotel here.
Yesterday, BN and PN had named their candidates in at least three constituencies – Paginatan, Tulid and Sook.
