KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) has set up a Makeshift Treatment Centre (MTC) in Pokok Sena Prison, Kedah to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The Second Infantry Division headquarters in a statement tonight said that Team B Komp 2 (Medication) was mobilised to assist the Kedah Health Department and will be in operation on Tuesday (Oct 20).
“The centre was set up to provide treatment to inmates with COVID-19 infection,” according to the statement.
The medical team is led by the Public Health Physician of the Military Medical Department of the Tuanku Mizan Armed Forces Hospital, Col (Dr) Mohd Arshil Moideen, principal assistant director of Health Services 2 Div, Lt Col (Dr) Faira Rosmarina Mohd Rustam and Commanding Officer B Komp 2 (Medic) Capt (Dr) Muhammad Asyraf Khairul Hasni.
Officials from the Ministry of Health in Putrajaya were also assigned to provide technical advice to set up the treatment centre.
According to the statement, two medical officers, five paramedics and two team members will be deployed throughout the operation of the treatment centre.
“B Komp 2 Bn Medic has mobilised logistics assets, namely tents that will be used as ICU wards, disinfection centres, donning and doffing stations, clinical waste management tentages, laboratories, operating rooms and shower systems for staff and generator sets,” the statement said.
The mobilisation of assets and officers as well as military personnel for this mission will be placed under the supervision of the Commander 2 Division Major Gen Datuk Arman Rumaizi Ahmad.
