BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) — “My People, My Homeland” led the Chinese mainland box office on Thursday, raking in roughly 16.4 million yuan (about 2.46 million U.S. dollars) on its 22nd screening day, according to the China Movie Data Information Network on Friday.
The Chinese movie depicts the stories of five people’s love for their homeland. Its general executive producer was Zhang Yimou, one of China’s best-known filmmakers.
It was followed by “The Story of Xi Bao,” which grossed over 6.58 million yuan, accounting for over 15 percent of the daily total, with its total box office revenues exceeding 80 million yuan.
Chinese comedy “Coffee or Tea?” ranked third with ticket sales in the region of 5.39 million yuan.
