PETALING JAYA,Dec 7: The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) on the Seremban prison and its staff quarters have been extended another two weeks to Dec 21, Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.
In a statement, he said the health ministry had screened 1,582 individuals, comprising prisoners and staff members, with 964 testing positive. The results from some 185 samples taken for second screening are still pending.
Meanwhile, he said the lockdown on Kg Sabah Baru in Lahad Datu, Sabah will end as scheduled today.
The health ministry screened 2,054 people and detected 382 cases there. All sample results have been obtained.
Ismail also said 487 people were arrested by the police yesterday for MCO-related offences, with 470 fined and 17 remanded.
The majority of them were punished for failing to record customers’ personal details when entering shops (59), not wearing a mask (77) and not practising physical distancing (205).
There were also 94 who were caught at entertainment centres, he said.
The authorities also detained 25 undocumented migrants and one smuggler yesterday as part of the ongoing Ops Benteng campaign.
