JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 4 — A food stall operator is now worried about losing her family source of income due to continuous rain and flooding in Kampung Sentosa Persiaran, Masai, here, for the past two days.

Roszita Mohd Nasir, 38, said she had to bear the loss as all food items stored in her house were destroyed due to flooding.

“Prior to this, I could earn about RM300 a day but since the floods on Friday, I really can’t do anything. We have lost our source of income,” said Roszita, who has three children, to Bernama when met at the temporary relief centre (PPS) at Dewan Muafakat Kg Cahaya Baru, Masai, today.

Roszita said that her food stall has generated extra income for her family for the past three years and has become the only source of income for the family after her husband lost his job since March last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Bernama check found that residents in the village began cleaning their homes.

Meanwhile, a resident of Kampung Sentosa Damai, Muhamad Razak, 44, said the floods this time were the worst for him and his family.

“I did not expect the water to rise up to one metre,” he said.

Muhammad, who returned home alone to start cleaning the house said that his family members were still housed at PPS.

He also expressed relief as most of the items can still be saved, only those placed on the floor were damaged by flood water.

The floods that hit Kampung Sentosa Damai, Kampung Sentosa Barat and Kampung Sentosa Persiaran forced about 226 residents to be evacuated to the PPS.
