PETALING JAYA,Feb 10: Former Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) chief executive officer Amir Hamzah Azizan has been appointed the new Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) CEO.

According to a statement from EPF, Amir’s appointment will take effect from March 1.

He replaces Tunku Alizakri Raja Muhammad Alias who was appointed to helm the retirement fund in August 2018. In recent months, Tunku Alizakri had faced criticisms over the issue of EPF withdrawals.

Prior to his appointment to TNB, Amir has also served as CEO of MISC Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, and Khazanah Nasional’s hospitality arm, Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels Sdn Bhd among others.

In the statement, EPF chairman Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir paid tribute to Tunku Alizakri for his unwavering dedication and service to the fund for the past seven years.

“On behalf of EPF, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Tunku Alizakri for his exemplary service to EPF and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
