PUTRAJAYA,Mar 1: The Covid-19 vaccination programme will help draw more investors to the country and stimulate the economy, senior minister for economy Azmin Ali said today.
Azmin, who is also international trade and industry minister, said despite the Covid-19 crisis and the impact on the economy, Malaysia remained a preferred investment destination that many investors are still interested in.
He added that the government is constantly reaching out to potential investors and that many multinational companies have started to invest in the country.
“The government will continue these efforts to attract as many foreign and domestic investors to invest in the country.
“I am confident the vaccination programme can increase the confidence of investors to come here, and improve the country’s economic growth for this year,” he told FMT, after prayers at Masjid Putra in conjunction with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration’s one-year anniversary last night.
This comes after Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin revealed a new strategy to revive the economy will be announced soon. He said he had discussed the comprehensive plan with finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz.
On PN’s first year in power, Azmin said the government has done its best to balance lives and the economy throughout the pandemic.
“Thank God, we managed to control the spread of the virus and reopen economic sectors.”
