KOTA KINABALU, March 4 — Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor today received his first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in conjunction with the launch of the state-level National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme here.
Hajiji arrived at the Multipurpose Hall, Sabah Federal Government Administrative Complex here at about 10 am, registered himself and was later interviewed by health workers on his health status.
After taking his vaccine jab at 10.07am, he was kept under observation for 15 minutes. He then left to officiate the launching ceremony.
Also present for the vaccine shot today were Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun, Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Shahelmy Yahya, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali and State Health Department director Dr Christina Rundi.
At the event, 60 other recipients were given the first dose of the vaccine.
On Feb 25, Sabah received 16,380 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to kickstart the Immunisation Programme which will be implemented in phases beginning with frontline workers.
Earlier, Masidi, who is also the state government spokesperson for COVID-19, said five more batches of the vaccine would be delivered to Sabah from today until April 1.
