KUALA LUMPUR,Mar 18 – The willingness of the Royal Malaysia Police in exposing misconduct and integrity issues among errant personnel clearly shows that it will not compromise on taking action against such officers, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
He said although the move has received criticism from certain quarters, who claim that the department is exposing skeletons in its own closet, it also proves that police do not protect members and fellow officers who commit crime.
“I, myself, am willing to share the ugly stories to serve as a lesson for my subordinates, besides providing confidence to the public that police are not conspiring to protect such disgusting activities,” he said in a live interview on Sinar Harian’s official Facebook page today.
Hamid said the police force belong to the state, adding that the public has the right to receive the best service.
He added that the media exposé on some police personnel living a luxurious lifestyle incommensurate with their posts and salaries will be used as a new benchmark for the department to eradicate the problem.
