BANGKOK, April 6 — Malaysian embassy officials and their family members in Cambodia were among those who received the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine late last month.
Malaysia’s ambassador to Cambodia Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Cambodian government for the vaccination assistance extended to foreign diplomats in the country.
He said a total of 20 home-based staff and their family members (including dependents above 18 years old) received their first dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on March 24.
“I personally expressed my upmost appreciation to Prime Minister Hun Sen and his cabinet ministers for their leadership and having close collaboration with ambassadors and the embassies officials in providing latest information and strategic planning for foreigners in getting their vaccination.
“We hope through this vaccination gesture both countries can work towards building new cooperation and establish travel connectivity as soon as possible to boost economic cooperation and enhance people connectivity,” he told Bernama when contacted.
“The vaccination process went very smoothly and it was well organised, we look forward to receiving our second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines in a few weeks’ time,” he said.
