PUTRAJAYA, April 17 — Wonderful Lifestyle Sdn Bhd, the Gloria Jean’s Coffees franchise holder for Malaysia, Myanmar and Brunei, aims to open two more cafes in Putrajaya this year, bringing the total to six.
Chief executive officer Zafrul Azman Mohamed Azraai said these were among the 16 new cafes planned for this year, of which four had been opened as of this month.
“We are targeting buildings that house government offices as well as hospitals and shopping malls. The remaining 12 outlets will be opened in stages after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration,” he told Bernama in an interview.
The new outlets set up so far in 2021 are located at the Prime Minister’s Department and Ministry of Communications and Multimedia in Putrajaya, Menara Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru in Johor, and the Selangor state secretariat’s building in Shah Alam.
According to Zafrul Azman, the company, which is a Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (PNS) subsidiary, always welcomes entrepreneurs who are keen to participate in Gloria Jean’s Coffees’ development and it will select suitable locations to operate from.
“Interested entrepreneurs will be given priority in terms of opening Gloria Jean’s Coffees outlets. Besides being given guidance on the right way to do business, they can also receive financing under PNS,” he said.
In conjunction with the month of Ramadan, Gloria Jean’s Coffees plans to distribute 18,000 cups of coffee for free at its outlets nationwide.
Gloria Jean’s Coffees is a global Australian-owned coffeehouse chain with 890 outlets in more than 43 countries. Malaysia has a total of 45 Gloria Jean’s Coffees outlets.
