KUALA LUMPUR,  April 27 –Celebrity Neelofa has been issued compound of RM20,000 for violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) during her recent wedding ceremony and breaching regulations on inter-state travel.

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor’s husband, Muhammad Haris Mohd Ismail, was compounded RM10,000 for also violating regulations on inter-state travel.

He said 20 members of the couple’s family and relatives were also issued compound of RM1,500 each, totalling RM30,00, for failing to observe physical distancing of at least one metre apart during the marriage solemnisation ceremony.

“All of them will  be issued the compound, totalling RM60,000, today, with no discount on the compound issued to Neelofa and her husband,” he said in a statement today.

Mohamad Zainal said on April 26, 2021, the investigation papers on SOP violation at the couple’s wedding ceremony were returned by the Attorney-General’s Chambers yesterday (April 26) with a decision to impose compound on those involved.

On the offences committed by Neelofa, he said, the first was as the organiser of the event whereby she failed to comply with the directive issued by the Health Director-General on compliance with the SOP on social distancing at social events.

The second was for breaching regulations on inter-state travel, he added.

On March 27, a picture was posted on social media showing a number of guests at Neelofa’s wedding failing to comply with the SOP on social distancing, followed by the inter-state travel by the newly-weds for their honeymoon, raising criticisms by netizens.
