GEORGE TOWN, May 8 — SlimHaus Technology Sdn Bhd, which aims to develop affordable and modern ‘low-rise’ houses using the Industrialised Building System (IBS) technology, will launch 199 units of three-storey terrace houses in Jalan Pantai Acheh, Balik Pulau.
Its director, Gerald Chin said the project will comprise two types of three-storey terrace houses, priced between RM250,000 and RM395,000, with a built-up area of 800 square feet (sq ft) and 1,500 sq ft.
“The gross development value will be announced later. We aim to complete the project by the end of next year, and it will be built on 2.91 hectares using the IBS technology.
“So far, we have received good response from potential buyers, especially from the younger generation,” he told reporters at the preview of the project here today.
He said the company will be screening the incomes of buyers for units priced below RM300,000 to ensure that they come from households with incomes below RM10,000, in accordance with the state government’s policy for affordable houses.
Also present were Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow; State Housing, Local Government and Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo; State Trade, Industry and Entrepreneurial Development Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain; and Bayan Baru member of Parliament, Sim Tze Tzin.
Chow said the use of IBS technology puts Slimhaus at par with other advanced real estate companies, providing an alternative in efforts to build conducive and high-quality affordable housing.
“The Slimhaus three-storey terrace house unit with high and consistent fabrication quality can be completed in a very short time, only taking four weeks.
“This is good progress and achievement, especially in light of the construction industry’s growth transition in the COVID-19 era,” he added.
