KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 — Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) has no plan for job cuts and will continue to be recruiting to support its growth aspirations and plans despite concerns about the employment status of Tesco Malaysia employees following its acquisition of the latter.
President Kenneth Chua said the company is recruiting 200 new local colleagues at its Bukit Beruntung, Selangor distribution centre (DC) to further affirm its commitment to create employment in the country.
“The pandemic has put many people out of a job and in support of the government’s initiative in creating employment for Malaysians, we are offering 200 permanent positions for job seekers in our Bukit Beruntung DC,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the Bukit Beruntung DC and Simpang Pulai, Perak DC have been fully managed and operated by Malaysians since November 2020 as a response to the government’s call in creating employment for Malaysians following the high unemployment rate due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lotus’s Malaysia acquired Tesco Malaysia in December 2020 and has since assumed the operations of all existing Tesco stores.
