JERTIH, May 14 — Terengganu Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Rural Development Committee chairman Dr Azman Ibrahim was fined RM2,000 today after being found to have breached the standard operating procedure (SOP) for Hari Raya Aidilfitri enforced following the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Besut District Police chief Supt Abdul Rozak Muhammad when contacted by Bernama confirmed the matter, stating that the compound offer of RM2,000 was the maximum amount imposed on any individual who violated the SOP.
“For any corporation or organisation that violates the Aidilfitri SOP, the maximum compound rate is RM10,000,” he added.
Earlier, Dr Azman, who is also Jabi state assemblyman, went to the Besut District Police Headquarters to record his statement after a picture of a man visiting him went viral on social media yesterday.
The 55-year-old man, who declined to be identified, was also fined RM2,000.
Several SOPs have been set for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration following the implementation of the nationwide MCO from May 12 to June 7, which includes barring house-to-house visits as well as the visitation of graves.
