SEREMBAN, May 20 — Police have opened an investigation paper into allegations that entrepreneur and celebrity Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor did not wear a face mask when she arrived at the Seremban Court Complex for a proceeding, here, yesterday.
Seremban district police chief ACP Mohd Said Ibrahim said the investigations were being carried out under Section 269 of the Penal Code (Act 574) and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.
He said a police report has been lodged claiming that the 32-year-old celebrity did not comply with the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) standard operating procedures (SOPs) that apply to all, including those who wear niqab.
“An explanation on the matter has been issued by the MOH after the wearing of face masks was made compulsory in crowded public places from Aug 1,” he said in a statement, here today.
The picture of Noor Neelofa who appeared as if she was not wearing a face mask when she arrived at the court compound went viral on social media yesterday.
Noor Neelofa and her husband Muhammad Haris Mohd Ismail pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday with violating SOPs on the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) at a carpet shop in Nilai on May 2.
