KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have expressed their condolences to the family of Perak Mufti Tan Sri Dr Harussani Zakaria, who died today.
In a statement issued via Istana Negara’s official Facebook page, Their Majesties also expressed their sadness over the passing and hoped that the family would be patient and resilient in this difficult situation.
“Their Majesties highly praised and greatly appreciate Harussani’s services and sacrifices to the community and contributions towards the development of ummah and Islam.
“Their Majesties also pray for his soul to be blessed by Allah and placed among the righteous,” read the statement, which ended with the hashtags #muftiperak #malaysia.
The Perak State Mufti Department, in a Facebook post, informed that Harussani passed away at about 3 pm today at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) in Perak.
It was previously reported that Harussani, 82, and his wife, Puan Seri Ainon Abdul Ghani were warded at HRPB before the Aidilfitri celebration, due to COVID-19.
Ainon recovered from the infection and was discharged from the hospital on May 21.
