KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 — Holders of essential service sector’s licences in the communications and multimedia industry must apply for permits to operate and travel from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) during the total lockdown from June 1 to 14.
Applications can only be made by the licence holders under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, Postal Services Act 2012 and Digital Signatures Act 1997 on behalf of companies and vendor companies through e-mail at mco.compliance@mcmc.gov.my.
MCMC, in a statement today, said that it had been given the authority by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) to issue permits for essential services under the supervision of the ministry, namely, the telecommunication and internet sector, broadcasting as well as postal and courier services.
According to MCMC, the conditional permission is subject to any amendment and new regulation issued by the government and will be null and void if there is any contravention of any stipulated regulation.
Meanwhile, a list of activities and chain of services permitted by the National Security Council (MKN) for the telecommunication and internet service are the authorised representatives or dealers of warehouses, delivery vendors, equipment or telecommunication system maintenance, repair, support requirements and customer service.
For postal and courier services, the authorised representatives are the legal representatives or dealers of warehouses or storage hub, delivery vendor, repair, support and customer service requirements.
The chain of services permitted for the broadcasting services are the legal representatives or dealers of equipment installation vendors and support services.
