GUA MUSANG, June 3 — Kampung Aring 5 of the Batek Orang Asli community here is out of bounds to visitors to keep COVID-19 at bay.
The 400 villagers have erected a steel barricade at the access road, the penghulu, Raina Anjang, told reporters at the village today.
Kampung Aring 5 is the third Orang Asli village in this district to put up such a barricade in view of the Movement Control Order 3.0 (MCO 3.0), the two others being Pos Tuel and Kampung Sendrop, Pos Brooke.
“We are concerned about the rising number of COVID-19 cases. We have to prevent outsiders from coming into our village freely. We hope the barricade will prevent outsiders from entering our village without a valid reason,” he said.
Outsiders who are allowed access will have their body temperature taken, their personal details recorded and their hands sanitised, he said.
He also said that the access road will be completely closed from 7 pm to 7 am and only villagers having to go out in emergency cases will be allowed to do so.
