SEREMBAN, June 16  — The Negeri Sembilan government plan to open a field hospital in Tampin to assist existing health facilities treat COVID-19 patients in the state.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun the state government would visit the proposed site for the field hospital, which is located within the Tampin Hospital area.

“We will visit the area first… the number of beds required has not been decided yet because we need to look at the latest development of the COVID-19 situation in the state.

“If the number of cases goes down and the number of beds in existing hospitals are sufficient, then I think there is no need (for the field hospital). Everything depends on the current COVID-19 situation in the state,” he told reporters today. 

He said the four hospitals handling COVID-19 patients in the state, so far, are the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban, Jelebu Hospital, Tampin Hospital and Jempol Hospital, with all four experiencing over 70 per cent bed utilisation rate.

Regarding the vaccination centres (PPV), he said the state government had submitted a proposal to the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) to open a mega PPV at Dewan Tuanku Canselor, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), which is expected to be able to administer 3,000 doses of vaccine jabs a day.

With this effort, it is expected that daily vaccinations can be increased to about 19,000 per day compared to 13,184 currently.
