KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 — Safety protocols at airports nationwide operated by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd have been heightened in line with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the movement control order (MCO) 3.0), in support of the National Recovery Plan.
In a statement today, the airport operator said the improved SOPs aim to help the country flatten the curve and mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Although airports nationwide remain open to provide essential services, they are operating with a 50 per cent workforce at the terminal for shift workers while the rest of the support staff are instructed to work from home to minimise the risk of infection,” it said.
MAHB said the entry and exit points of the terminal have been restricted to singular points manned by the airport’s Aviation Security unit who carries out the initial screening and allows entrance for only guests with low-risk profiles on ‘MySejahtera’.
Dedicated airport staff in full safety gear are also constantly patrolling the terminal to ensure passengers and the airport community comply with physical distancing and proper usage of face masks.
“Malaysia Airports is working hand-in-hand with all airport stakeholders, including the government authorities and airline partners in making sure our efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 will be successful,” it said.
