KOTA KINABALU, June 22 — The Sawit Kinabalu Group will contribute food basket assistance worth RM1 million, that will benefit 10,000 households in 15 districts in Sabah.
The food basket aid will be channelled to the district offices and disaster operation control centres in Papar, Beaufort, Membakut, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Marudu, Pitas, Beluran, Tongod, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Tungku, Kunak, Semporna, Tawau and Kalabakan, before being distributed to the residents involved.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also Sawit Kinabalu Group chairman, witnessed the symbolic cheque presentation from group managing director Bacho Jansie to state secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong, who is also state COVID-19 Disaster Management Committee chairman, here today.
Hajiji said he hoped the aid would ease the burden of those affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that the state government had also distributed 40,736 food baskets to the affected groups through the Sabah Prihatin Aid Programme (BSP) 3.0 starting June 19.
Previously, a total of 322,122 food baskets were distributed under BSP1.0, and 367,231 under BSP2.0.
