GEORGE TOWN, July 17  — Penang police will issue a compound notice to Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for allegedly violating the standard operating procedure (SOP) at a vehicle sales and display centre at Juru Autocity, near here, on June 5.

Penang police chief Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said police had received an instruction regarding the compound notice against Muhammad Sanusi and it would be issued soon.

“Confirmation of the (compound) order has been received and it will be extended to the Menteri Besar’s Office soon. Further information will be released after the order has been served on Muhammad Sanusi.

“An official statement from the Penang police contingent headquarters will be issued after the handing over process (of compound) is done soon,” he said when contacted today.

According to earlier reports, the case was investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.

The case has gone viral with a video and photos showing an individual believed to be Muhammad Sanusi test-driving a car there when the country was under the movement control order which prohibited such activities.
