KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 — Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has proposed a motion stating that the Dewan Rakyat has lost confidence in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and that he should resign as the Prime Minister immediately.
Anwar, who is Port Dickson member of parliament, said the motion was submitted to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun under Regulations 14(1)(h), 26(1)(d) dan 36(12) of the Standing Orders and the Federal Constitution.
“I, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, on behalf of Dewan Rakyat members hereby submit the motion as follows:
“That the Dewan Rakyat resolves to establish no-confidence in Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Md Yassin, MP for Pagoh, and to vacate the post of prime minister immediately in accordance with the Federal Constitution,” he told a media conference in the Parliament building today.
Anwar said in the motion, he stated that the Istana Negara media statement today reprimanded Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan for misleading the Dewan Rakyat by stating that all emergency ordinances had been revoked on July 21, even though they had been ordered to be tabled and debated in Parliament for annulment.
The Dewan Rakyat Speaker’s office, when contacted, confirmed receiving the motion.
Meanwhile, Anwar said he also urged Takiyuddin to honourably resign from his post for his mistake and for confusing the House.
Asked whether he would be seeking an audience with His Majesty, Anwar replied: “For that, we will have to follow developments in the next day or two; if there is a need then we will seek an audience.”
