KUALA TERENGGANU, Aug 8 — Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) has advised the public to lodge an official complaint to the ministry if traders raise the price of mineral water and water containers, especially in areas experiencing a water supply disruption.
KPDNHEP Deputy Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid said the ministry had recently received information that the price increase took place around Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu, however, he said no one had come forward to lodge an official complaint.
“They (the public) can make a report to the ministry through various platforms such as via the WhatsApp application and phone calls.
“So far there are no official reports, only verbal complaints and the price hike happened in village areas, probably due to a decrease in mineral water supply while demand is high,” he told reporters after handing over 530 food baskets to the residents in Manir affected by the implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) which was enforced on Aug 5.
Residents in Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Nerus have been facing water supply disruption since Monday (Aug 2) due to a burst pump at the river bed of Sungai Terengganu affecting 28,700 account holders in the two districts.
