KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 — Preparations for Malaysia Day 2021 celebration on Sept 16 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu is 80 per cent complete.

Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) deputy secretary-general (Strategic Communications and Creative Industry Sector) Mastura Ahmad Mustafa said the historic day would be celebrated under the new norm due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the second year running.

“All committee members will ensure that the Malaysia Day celebration will continue to be vibrant as ever in accordance with the advice of the National Security Council (MKN) and the Ministry of Health (MOH).

“Just like National Day, the Malaysia Day celebration this year will not involve physical presence of the public and will be held on a small scale with limited participants and guests,” she said in Koresponden Bernama programme on Bernama TV here today.

Mastura said among the activities that would be carried out was the Malaysia Prihatin performance featuring five interesting segments presented by the Sabah Cultural Board, including the Merdeka Negaraku, Jalur Perpaduan and Warna-Warni Malaysia.

“People can watch the Malaysia Day 2021 celebration live on television and social media platforms,” she said.
