SEREMBAN, Sept 9 — A total of 4,908 compounds worth RM2.3 million, had been issued against individuals and premises in the state, for flouting the standard operating procedures (SOP) from March last year to Sept 4 this year.
Negeri Sembilan Health, Environment, Cooperatives and Consumerism Action Committee chairman S.Veerapan said the offences were detected through enforcement activities under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342) implemented statewide during the period.
Among the offences were not observing physical distancing, failure to wear face masks, record personal details and to check in using the MySejahtera application before entering the premises.
“During the same period, 592 cases were registered at the court for not settling the compounds while 268 premises were instructed to close temporarily to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
Veerapan was speaking to reporters after inspecting the SOP compliance at food outlets, which was also attended by State Health Department (JKNS) deputy director (public health) Dr Mohammad Faid Abdu Rashid here today.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Faid urged the public to continue to adhere to the stipulated SOP and develop self-control to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission even though Negeri Sembilan has entered Phase Three of the National Recovery Plan.
“Currently, the daily cases show a decrease of between 200 and 300 cases compared to over 1,000 cases previously. Therefore, SOP compliance is very important to prevent a surge in cases,” he added.
He said JKNS had also been proactive in implementing continuous enforcement and monitoring of SOP compliance among the public in every district.
