SHAH ALAM, Sept 20 — The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) today handed over a contribution of RM800,000 to 12 hospitals in the state for purchasing equipment for COVID-19 treatment.
LZS chief executive officer Saipolyazan M. Yusop said the contributions were presented to Selangor state Health director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman during the Selangor Peduli Zakat contribution handing-over ceremony at the Serdang Hospital here today.
“Each hospital received between RM30,000 and RM100,000, depending on their needs to purchase COVID-19 requirements, like beds, mattresses, wheelchairs, ventilator, oxygen tanks and so on,” he said in a statement today.
He said that the Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selayang Hospital and Ampang Hospital received RM100,000 each while the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital and Serdang Hospital received RM90,000 each.
The UiTM Hospital received RM80,000 while the Shah Alam Hospital, Kajang Hospital and Banting Hospital were given RM50,000 each and the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital, Tanjong Karang Hospital and Sabak Bernam Hospital received RM30,000 each.
He added that LZS also allocated a contribution of RM1 million to be channelled to assist public medical institutions and frontliners in Selangor to combat the pandemic.
On July 2, the LZS announced an allocation of RM69.3 million for the implementation of 19 Selangor Peduli Zakat aid initiatives aimed at benefiting 59,322 recipients and 431 institutions in the state.
