KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — The Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) is hoping the construction industry to be able to kick-start mega projects soon and expedite the tender process.

In its Budget 2022 wishlist, the association said these projects included construction of roads, affordable housing, bridges, schools and hospitals for the year 2022 which it hoped to be distributed immediately to contractors.

“We also like to suggest for more open tenders to encourage fair and competitive bidding,” it said in a statement today.

MBAM said it also wished the moratorium for businesses to be extended until June 30, 2022 and the benefit extended to cover limited companies as well as leasing companies.

It said to ease cash flows, it hoped the cost for construction projects could be reduced through interest subsidy or government guarantee.

Meanwhile, MBAM said it also wished specific subsidies and tax reduction incentives would be given for new construction machinery and equipment with new technologies and safety features to promote the development of industrialisation and automation of the industry.

Besides that, it said it hoped the government could provide suitable land and infrastructure to set up workers’ accommodation to accommodate more workers including facilities such as electricity, water, communication and others.
