MELAKA, Nov 24 — Political parties that contested in the Melaka state election are given until this Friday to remove all campaign materials put up in the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ) administrative areas to avoid losing the RM5,000 installation deposit.
MPHTJ president Datuk Shadan Othman said about 40 per cent of party flags and campaign materials including banners and posters in the MPHTJ administrative areas have not been removed up till today.
“So far, I am satisfied with the actions taken by the political parties involved but there are still a small number of them who have yet to do so.
“Therefore, I urge all the political parties involved to immediately do so before this Friday so as not to lose their deposits,” he said when met by reporters at his office, here, today.
Shadan said the political parties involved were required to remove their campaign materials immediately to maintain cleanliness in the state and for the comfort of tourists visiting Melaka.
In another development, he said MPHTJ won second place in the local authority (PBT) category of the Sustainable City Appreciation Awards 2021, organised by the Housing and Local Government Ministry on Nov 9.
