KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 – The Health Ministry (MOH) has sent the Kedah State Health Department’s (JKN) ‘Ground Zero’ Disaster Task Force to assist its flood disaster operations in Selangor.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a post on his Facebook page today that the team consisted of 27 members from those working at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (Alor Setar), Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (Sungai Petani) and Kulim Hospital.
The team includes two Emergency Specialists, five Medical Officers, two specially trained nurses, eight Assistant Medical Officers, two Health Care Assistants, five drivers and three technical workers.
Dr Noor Hisham said the team was equipped with a Mobile Resuscitation Unit, Mobile Command Vehicle unit, Ambulance unit, Rapid Response Vehicle Unit and three tents for patient care in mobile and static modes.
He said the team arrived in Selangor at 11.30 pm yesterday and would start moving to the operations area at 9 am today and will be based at the Sungai Lui Rural Clinic, Hulu Langat.
“By working hand in hand with the Hulu Langat Health Office team, we are confident that they will be able to jointly deliver specialised health services to benefit the victims and the community, especially those with access problems,” he said.
As of 7.20 am today, the Info Bencana application of the Social Welfare Department reported that the number of flood evacuees in Selangor stood at 21,941 people and were being sheltered at 106 temporary evacuation centres (PPS).
