KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 25 — Red Cross Society of China has donated US$100,000 (RM419,500) for flood relief efforts to Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS).
The donation was handed over by the China’s Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing to MRCS secretary-general Hakim Hamzah at the MRCS National Headquarters, here on Friday.
Ouyang hoped this gesture, which reflected the true friendship between the peoples of China and Malaysia, will lend a helping hand to Malaysian flood victims in pulling through this difficult period of time.
“China believes that Malaysia will overcome the flood and rebuild damaged homes very soon,” he said, according to a statement by the Chinese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
Ouyang, on behalf of the Chinese government and its people, also extended sincere condolences to the flood victims in Malaysia.
Torrential rains in Malaysia have caused flooding and landslides in several parts of the country with at least 41 people reported dead so far.
