KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31  — The number of flood victims housed at relief centres (PPS) in Terengganu and Kelantan continued to rise while Pahang recorded a drop this morning.

In TERENGGANU, the number of evacuees increased to 388 people from 115 families this morning, compared to 137 from 42 families last night.

State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat chief Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Rosman Abdullah said some 225 victims from 60 families were taking shelter at the PPS in Kampung Shukor multipurpose hall, Dungun while 163 people from 55 families were placed at Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Pasir Raja.

So far, only the Dungun district has been affected by the third wave of floods in Terengganu.

In KELANTAN, the number of evacuees rose to 1,399 people from 412 families at 7 am compared to 1,186 people from 350 families last night.

A total of 14 PPS were currently operating in two districts, namely nine in Jeli and five in Kuala Krai.

According to the Department of Irrigation and Drainage’s inforbanjir portal, the water level at two major rivers in the state were at the danger level, namely Sungai Golok in Kampung Jenob, Tanah Merah at 23.95 metres (m) and Sungai Kelantan in Kampung Temangan, Machang (18.95 m).

In addition, the Public Works Department (JKR) disaster management portal reported that the federal road connecting Jeli-Dabong in Kampung Reka, Jeli was still closed to all vehicles since yesterday.

In PAHANG, the Social Welfare Department (JKM) Info Bencana application reported that 2,704 people were currently taking shelter at 33 PPS in Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan and Pekan.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, Jalan Kampung Belimbing in Maran was still closed due to the floods.

The publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my reported that Sungai Luit in Maran was at the warning level while Sungai Tembeling in Kuala Tahan and Kampung Merting, Jerantut as well as Sungai Dong in Raub; Sungai Triang in Chemomoi, Bentong; and Sungai Kundang in Maran were at the alert level.

The Meteorological Department forecast that all districts in the state would experience rain this morning.

In SELANGOR, JKM Info Bencana portal reported that 466 evacuees from 132 families were still housed at four PPS, namely in Sekolah Rendah Agama Dusun Nanding (20 people); Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Abdul Jalil, Hulu Langat (77); Stadium Tertutup Kuala Selangor (201) and SMK Kuala Selangor, Kuala Selangor (168).

Selangor police said as of 4 am, the roads at FT 31 Dengkil-Banting bridge and Jalan Genting Peras-Kuala Klawang were still inundated and closed to traffic while the bridge heading to the Subang Shooting Range was damaged due to the floods.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, state Civil Defence Force (APM) director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Syukri Madnor said 29 individuals from 155 families were still housed at the Balai Raya Kampung Puom PPS in Jelebu as of 8 am.
