KUCHING, Jan 28 — Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd (Bank Rakyat) will provide more Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) across Sarawak this year, said Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar.
Without giving specific numbers, he said the ATMs would be installed in areas where there is no Bank Rakyat branches and places with Internet facilities.
“In areas where Internet is available, if they apply to have ATMs installed, we will implement (this),” he told a press conference after officiating Bank Rakyat branch at Kota Sentosa here, today.
According to him, several Members of Parliament from Sarawak had previously met him to appeal to have more of the bank’s ATMs installed in the state.
Meanwhile, Noh said Bank Rakyat has 14 branches across the state to-date, with the country’s best branch in Satok here.
Besides Satok, the other branches are in Matang Jaya, Simpang Tiga and Kota Sentosa di Kuching, two in Miri (Miri and Permy Jaya) and one each in Bintulu, Kapit, Kota Samarahan, Limbang, Mukah, Sarikei, Sibu and Sri Aman.
