KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 — PR1MA Corporation Malaysia (PR1MA) is partnering with SANY Construction Industry Development (M) Sdn Bhd (SCID) to build affordable housing using the Industrialised Building System (IBS) technology in a partnership that will create more than 12,000 jobs.
In a joint statement, PR1MA said the partnership has a potential investment of RM75 million where SCID, a subsidiary of China-based SANY Group, will build three IBS factories in strategic locations.
“The use of IBS technology will contribute to the building of 20,000 affordable housing units across the nation with a development value worth RM5 billion,” the statement said.
The IBS technology is a modern way of building and can help raise productivity by reducing construction time, the statement said.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, during his Dubai trip, witnessed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between PR1MA and SCIB at the Malaysia Pavilion, World Expo 2020.
PR1MA and SCID will work together to create new job opportunities and develop Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiatives at SCID branches in Malaysia and abroad.
PR1MA chairman Datuk Fathul Bari Mat Jahya said the collaboration is essential to achieve the government’s aspiration to help middle-income Malaysian families (M40) own their first homes.
It is also in line with the government’s aspiration of “One Family, One Home” and the Keluarga Malaysia aspiration mooted by the Prime Minister.
PR1MA, an agency under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, has been entrusted with building 100,000 affordable housing units while increasing home ownership, in line with the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
