KANGAR, April 1 — The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) has set the zakat fitrah rate for Muslims in the state to remain at RM7.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said the rate was set in line with the decision of the Perlis Fatwa Committee Meeting which maintained the fitrah rate this year based on the price of rice which is a common staple among the community.
“Apart from paying zakat fitrah in cash, Muslims can also pay zakat (tithe) with rice at the rate of 2.6 kilogrammes, per person,” he said in a statement issued by MAIPs tonight.
According to the statement, he said this at the Zakat Fitrah rate launch in conjunction with the ‘Rukyah Hilal Ramadan 1443H’ ceremony organised by the Perlis Mufti Department and MAIPs at the Tapak Cerapan Hilal, Al-Hussain Mosque Complex Kuala Perlis.
The Raja Muda who is also MAIPs president also launched the publication of ‘Adab-adab Berbuka Puasa Menurut Sunnah’ published by the Perlis Mufti Department. He was accompanied by the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
Muslims can pay zakat fitrah via amil (tithe collector) throughout the state of Perlis and can also pay it online through the link https://www.maips.gov.my/pwa/fpx/fpxMain.php.
