SANDAKAN, May 26 — Consumers in Sabah are advised to provide information to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (MDTCA) on irregularities in the sale of cooking oil in the state.
Its Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said although continuous checks were conducted by the ministry’s enforcement team, information from the public woukld be helpful for the ministry in combating such irregularities.
“We (ministry) may not know everything, we need the cooperation of all parties to provide us with information.
“Don’t be afraid because we have various channels for the public to forward their complaints and feedbacks to us,” he told reporters after conducting a check on the price and supply of goods under the 2022 Kaamatan Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme here today.
Nanta was asked by reporters on the issue of malparctices in the sale of subsidised cooking oil in the east coast of Sabah, with claims of some parties selling it to the neighbouring countries or repacking it and selling iot back at a higher price in the local market.
On the maximum price scheme, he said the feedback received by the ministry found that that there was sufficient supply of goods in Sabah.
He also said that the Kelauarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) Sale was extended to Sandakan for three days from tomorrow at the Bataras Sandakan Supermarket.
Consumers can enjoy a discount of five to 20 percent on essential goods compared to the market price at the sale promotion, he added.
