SERI ISKANDAR, June 22 – There is no guarantee that Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) incumbent assemblymen will be fielded again in the 15th General Election (GE15), said state BN chairman Datuk Seri. Saarani Mohamad.
The Perak Menteri Besar said it would depend on the prevailing situation as there could be new faces who could potentially replace the old candidates as was done in the Melaka state election.
“We (Perak BN) have started to get the names from the divisions. At the same time, we need to do a study from the relevant parties so that the candidates are winnable ones,” he said after launching the Parit BN election machinery here last night.
Asked when it would be the right time to have the election, The Kota Tampan assemblyman said it would be best that it is held this year after considering the readiness of the BN machinery throughout the state.
Meanwhile, Parit Member of Parliament Datuk Mohd Nizar Zakaria said his division is ready for “”battle” in GE15 to regain the mandate of the voters.
“Alhamdulillah (thanks to Allah), the commitment of all party members and machinery is very high to ensure the victory of BN candidates both for the parliamentary and the two state constituencies in it, namely Belanja and Bota in GE15,” he said.
The Perak state legislature has 59 assemblymen with 25 from BN who are all from UMNO, Bersatu (seven), PAS (three), DAP (16), Parti Amanah Negara (five) and PKR (three).
