PUTRAJAYA, July 3 — The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) today received the Excellence Award as Supporter of National Data Sharing (Public Sector) from the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in conjunction with the Digital Economy Industry Appreciation Awards.
The award was presented by Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa to Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin.
A statement issued by the office of the Chief Statistician said the award was an appreciation and a source of encouragement for DOSM employees to continue to be dedicated in performing their duties to deliver quality statistics to the public despite challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing need for new and real-time data for the socio-economic management of the country in an increasingly complex environment.
“ As of July 1, 2022, the DOSM portal, www.dosm.gov.my has been visited by 5,734,113 visitors. While a total of 1,166 statistical publications (109 monthly, 32 quarterlies, 200 annuals and 825 (ad hoc) plus 125 stats alerts were issued,” it read.
In the interactive visual publication of data dissemination, it said DOSM had provided a total of five (5) platforms, namely Malaysia External Trade Statistics Online, Business Cycle Clock, Malaysia CPI Inflation Calculator, MyLocal Stats and Population Quick info.
According to the statement, a total of nine dashboards have also been prepared by DOSM, namely the Agricultural Analytical System, Tourism Dashboard, Malaysia Economic Recovery Dashboard, National Occupational Accident Statistics, Job Market Insights, My Job Profile, Malaysia Labour Market Interactive Data (MyLMID), OpenDOSM and Population and Housing Census of Malaysia Dashboard (MyCendash).
The department has also developed seven data portals, namely e-Statistics, StatsDW, StatsBDA, Stats Geoportal, Stats Digital, and MysIDC, and the Census Portal.
DOSM is the lead agency in national data governance providing quality, relevant statistical information systems and access in real-time, in addition to ensuring that the products and services provided are user-oriented and timely by supplying data to central agencies for the formulation of development planning policies and national administration.
