KOTA BHARU, July 24 — The East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) is offering 50 vacancies as field officers of the Keluarga Malaysia Hardcore Poverty Eradication Programme (BMTKM) in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.
ECERDC Corporate Affairs Division general manager Sri Ganesh Gopalakrishnan said this was to streamline and monitor the implementation of the BMTKM at the district or branch levels and ensure it achieves the target of zero hardcore at the end of 2025.
He said the officers appointed would be placed in districts that had been identified where they will go down to the ground for engagement sessions with household heads and local leaders as well as assist the local district offices.
“Priority will be given to applicants from the eKasih database to enable them to understand better the difficulties experienced by the targeted groups, with the hope they can help those affected escape from poverty.
“Applicants must also have a bachelor’s degree with honours that is recognised by the government from local institutions of higher learning or a recognised equivalent qualification and at least a year’s experience in management and administration,” he said.
He said this during an interview with Bernama at the ECERDC booth at the Kelantan Keluarga Malaysia Aspirations (AKM) Tour programme at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium here today.
Elaborating, Sri Ganesh said human capital development programmes under the ECERDC would be continued to raise the income and living standards of the people, especially in Kelantan, so as to tackle the increase in the number of people living below the poverty level.
He said they intend to ensure no community was left behind, especially those in the low-income (B40) group, youth, women and Orang Asli by helping them get new jobs through upskilling and reskilling programmes.
“As for the entrepreneurs, the ECERDC opens up opportunities for them to be eligible to carry out their businesses, including financing and loan opportunities from Maybank and Agrobank, as well as opportunities to upgrade their products and obtain halal certificates from SIRIM.
“Since the ECERDC entrepreneurship programme was implemented in 2012, a total of 7,208 existing entrepreneurs have been established and 17,165 new jobs created. We hope they will be successful in their lives, thus help expand Kelantan’s economy,” he said.
