KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah today graced the opening of the ‘Solo Artbeat of Halimah Mohd Said’ exhibition held at The Royal Selangor Golf Club here.
His Royal Highness, accompanied by Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, arrived at the venue at 3.14 pm.
The three-day exhibition, which will kick off tomorrow, will showcase over 100 artworks produced by artist Datuk Halimah Mohd Said with the aim to raise funds for charity to support underserved communities.
In his speech, Sultan Nazrin said Halimah’s paintings reflected her intellectual concerns with themes of multiculturalism, religion and the contrasts she highlighted between nature and buildings.
“And by using this means to raise money for charity, in this case, to support the provision of art education for the under-privileged, Datuk Halimah is once again leveraging her own capabilities in order to serve the community more broadly,” he said.
To symbolise the opening of the exhibition, Sultan Nazrin then applied a stroke of colour using acrylic paint and signed Halimah’s artwork titled ‘Magical Cosmos’.
Meanwhile, Halimah said she hoped to raise some RM300,000 through her paintings, which will be sold from RM1,000 to RM15,000 each.
The exhibition is co-hosted by the Royal Selangor Golf Club and sponsored by Yayasan Sime Darby.
