ARAU, Aug 22 — The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has recorded a total of 946 cases involving seized items, worth RM78.11 million, from 2018 to July 2022 under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, said the ministry’s secretary-general, Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof.
He said the seizures involved controlled and subsidised goods such as cooking oil, RON95 petrol, diesel, sugar, wheat flour and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
“We are carrying out this enforcement (Op Bersepadu) together with the agencies involved, such as the Road Transport Department (RTD), police, the Immigration Department and others, to curb the issue of supply leakage, especially of controlled and subsidised goods,” he told reporters after participating in the Jalan Raja roadblock operation at KM 26, Jalan Changlun-Kuala Perlis near here, today.
Also present was RTD deputy director-general (Planning and Operations), Aedy Fadly Ramli.
According to Azman, this enforcement will continue, along with various agencies, because KPDNHEP wants to eradicate such activities.
He said although no arrests were made today, enforcement will continue from time to time, especially involving states that border neighbouring countries.
