PETALING JAYA, Aug 31 — Persons with Disabilities (OKU) will get to ride for free for a month on all public transport services under Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Transport Minister says this will run from Wednesday (Aug 31) to Sept 30 on all of Prasarana’s services such as Rapid KL, Rapid Penang, Rapid Kuantan including the LRT, MRT, Monorail, BRT or bus stop and Rapid Mobility.
“In conjunction withNational Day 2022, fares will be free for one month to Persons with Disabilities (OKU) for all public transport services under the management of Prasarana,” he said.
This facility will benefit users among the disabled for bus and rail services with an average of 23,527 and 26,762 people respectively for a period of one month.
“All disabled people who have a disabled card registered with the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) are eligible to enjoy free travel for 31 days,” he said on Wednesday.
Dr Wee had earlier flagged off participants of Explorasi Merdeka Rapid KL at the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) MRT station and interacted with visitors and traders at ‘Rapid KL Support Lokal’ event.
Also present were Prasarana chairman Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim and Prasarana Group president and chief executive officer Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah.
