KANGAR, Sept 30 — The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail has urged civil servants and private sector employees in the state to participate in the cash waqf (endowment) programme initiated by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) through a monthly salary deduction.

He said the initiative could generate consistent waqf income to be used for various high-impact initiatives, adding that a large cash waqf fund is needed to realise the agenda and initiatives that have been planned.

“The construction of MAIPs Waqf building-Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF) Dialysis Services is a landmark of the success of the cash waqf contribution supported by the community in helping to ease the burden of patients who are suffering and need perfect health care,” he added.

He said this at the state-level Waqf Awareness Seminar in conjunction with the National Waqf Month roadshow 2022 officiated by the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil at the State Legislative Assembly Complex, here yesterday.

Also present were Waqf, Zakat and Haj Department (JAWHAR) director-general, Datuk Selamat Paigo and MAIPs chief executive officer Mohd Nadzim Mohd Noor.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin who is also MAIPs president said the uniqueness of the waqf practice is attributed to its universal benefits where it can be enjoyed by all parties regardless of religious, ethnic or socio-economic background.
