KANGAR, Jan 5 — Three ‘asnaf’ families in Kampung Bakau and Kampung Sena were in for a pleasant surprise when the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and his delegation visited the families to hand out financial aid.
Through the MAIPs Peduli Ride initiative, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin and his delegation comprising heads of government departments and agencies in Perlis, were able to interact and mingle with the people and were to have a first hand look at their lifestyle.
Md Saad Ibrahim, 71, a senior citizen in the village was shocked to see the arrival of Tuanku Syed Faizuddin at his house in Kampung Bakau here to hand out financial aid, a food basket and some basic necessities.
Md Saad, a former taxi driver, said the willingness of Tuanku Syed Faizuddin to visit his house and the village showed his kindness and concern for the people.
“Our Raja Muda is a very kind hearted person who has the people’s wellbeing in his heart. I am overwhelmed by his presence,” he told Bernama, here today.
Another ‘asnaf’ Shahrom Dahaman, 70, who is also a senior citizen said she had only watched Tuanku Syed Faizuddin visiting ‘asnaf’ families on TV but never expected him to visit her house.
Shahrom said she lives with her old mother Aishah Teh, 88, and her sister Rafidah, 55, who is a person with disability but was overjoyed by the presence of the Raja Muda.
“I am delighted and grateful for the royal visit and contributions,” she said.
Since the inception of the MAIPs Peduli Ride with the people programme in 2013, carried out by the Majlis Agama Islam and Adat Istiadat Melayu Perlis (MAIPs), 38,995 ‘asnaf’ had benefitted from tithe collection to a tune of RM24.77 million up to last year.
