KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 — Founder of Hiro Food Packages Manufacturing Sdn Bhd Datuk Suzuki Ichiro and founder of JMG Trading Sdn Bhd Miyagawa Atsushi have been appointed as the “Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassadors” to promote Japanese food and dietary culture both inside and outside the country.
The Embassy of Japan to Malaysia, in a statement, said that the ambassadors appointed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) will provide advice from a professional standpoint to overseas professionals specialising in Japanese cuisine.
“Japanese food and dietary culture have become familiar to many people in Malaysia, with the value of exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food from Japan to Malaysia increased 2.3 times in the last five years.
“We expect the growing popularity of Japanese food and dietary culture in Malaysia, leading to a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and an increase in visitors from Malaysia to Japan,” said the statement, adding that Washoku (Japanese Cuisine) was designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013 and has attracted worldwide attention.
Hiro Food Packages Manufacturing Sdn Bhd is a food packaging manufacturer in Malaysia established in 2000, whereas JMG Trading Sdn Bhd is a trading company specialising in the import and sale of Japanese fresh, chilled and frozen food products in Malaysia.
